Angel Flight is an organization of pilots that volunteer their time, skill, airplanes, fuel and related expenses to transport patients for surgery, chemotherapy, or other medical services.Although Angel Flight operates out of Tulsa, they can transport patients and one or two family members or support people from anywhere in Oklahoma to treatment facilities anywhere in the United States. Angel Flight is available for patients whose medical condition does not allow a lengthy car trip, yet alternative methods of travel are not available or not affordable. The transportation service is provided at no cost to the patient. Some of the guidelines which must be met by the patient include:
  • must be ambulatory
  • must be an outpatient
  • must have physician's approval
  • must not be able to afford alternative air transportation
  • must be able to ride in a small non-pressurized aircraft that is not equipped for medical emergencies
  • qualified medical personnel must accompany a patient requiring medical attention
  • must have ground transportation between the airport and the treatment center
